The HTC Evo 4G is currently one of the best selling smart phones available through Sprint. The 4G support and the Android operating system make this one of the best smart phones available from any cell phone carrier. The 4G support allows for you to download anything from the Android market in a few seconds. A large 4.3 inch touch screen is featured on the phone along with a camera that can shoot video in 720p high definition. While all of these features are great, the most impressive feature of the HTC Evo 4G is its ability to be charged without using any wires.

Wireless Charging allows for the battery of the HTC Evo 4G to charge without having to plugged into the wall. Wireless charging is achieved by using an electromagnetic field to send energy to the phone from a charging station. The HTC Evo 4G is placed on top of the charging station and receives the energy from the electromagnetic field. This energy is then transferred and stored to the battery. The stored energy is then used to charge the battery of the HTC Evo 4G.

To achieve wireless charging, there are two different accessories that must be purchased for the smart phone. The first is a Powermat charging mat that can be purchased through a variety of different locations. The charging mat is used as the charging station and sends the energy to the HTC Evo 4G when it is placed on top of the mat.

The final accessory is the Powermat Receiver Door for the HTC Evo 4G. The receiver door replaces the original door found on the back of the HTC Evo 4G that was used to cover the battery and to make sure that the battery did not fall out. The receiver door does the same thing as the original, but it also allows for the phone to receive the energy from the charging mat. It allows for the phone to realize that it is receiving energy and then uses the energy to charge the battery.

The HTC Thunderbolt is a 4G smart phone from Verizon wireless. The HTC Thunderbolt runs the Android 2.2 operating system and features a 4.3 inch capactive touch screen. The 1GHz processor also makes the phone one of the fastest and most responsive on the market. Flash support and the 8 mega pixel camera will allow the HTC Thunderbolt to compete with an smart phone on the market. It also captures video in 720p high definition that can be easily viewed on any high definition television.

One of the key features of the HTC Thunderbolt is its ability to be charged without using any wires. Wireless charging is being able to charge the battery in the HTC Thunderbolt without having to have the phone plugged into the wall or a computer. The wireless charging process requires specialized accessories and advanced technology, so the process is not cheap but it is well worth it if you constantly need your HTC Thunderbolt.

Wireless charging allows specialized phones to be placed on a mat, then the map sends a signal to the battery that charges the phone. The item the phone is placed on acts as a charging station that sends energy to the phone placed on top of it. The phone receives the energy from the charging station and then converts it into an electrical current that is used to charge the phone’s battery.

Review of the iPhone4 and IOS4

As the new iPhone 4 hits stores many people are scrambling to get their hands on the latest technology. You may be asking yourself what the new iPhone 4 offers that the previous 3GS version did not? To answer this question there is actually quite a few upgrades and perks for people that manage to snag the newly coveted iPhone 4 or upgrade to the new IOS 4 operating system.

For starters the iPhone 4 has much more enhancements compared to the previous jump between the iPhone 3G and 3GS. In comparison to the previous model the next generation iPhone has a higher screen resolution, the 3G had 320 x 480 pixels the new one has 640 x 960 pixels, which makes it HD quality. Other improvements iPhone 4 users can expect are upgrades to the camera and battery life. The new camera is being improved from 3.2 megapixels to 5 megapixels and you can expect it to contain a flash feature as well. iPhone users also have a chance to get upgraded storage space allowing consumers to store up to 60 GB and 80 GB on their new phones. As far as appearance goes the new version is a tiny bit smaller but 5 grams heavier than the 3G most likely because the battery has been increased by 16 percent.

The new iPhone 4 also has many new features the 3G version did not have. One of the better of those features would have to be the much talked about FaceTime application that allows users to have a video call with other users that are using FaceTime application on their iPhone 4 as well. Wireless Power Charger Mats

Wireless or cordless power chargers are hot items recently. The basic idea is that you can charge one or multiple electronic devices without needing an ugly powercord for each device. This saves space on your desktop and improves the look of the charging area.

Most of the current wireless power chargers are of the “mat” type. Basically, the charging unit itself is a flat mat, on which you directly place your electronic devices to charge. The exact method of wireless power delivery depends upon the product you select (see below).

Powermat

Powermat is probably the most famous of the wireless power charging mats. The standard Powermat can charge up to three devices at once without wires. Each device must be outfitted with a device-specific “receiver”, or be plugged into a Powercube receiver (one Powercube comes with the Powermat). For maximum coolness, you’ll want to get a wireless power receiver for your devices though. Normally these receivers are in the form of case (which makes direct contact with the charging pad) or a replacement battery cover (which also makes contact with the charging mat). The Powercube receiver (the standard one) has standard hookups to connect devices without receivers, and then itself sits upon the charging mat. There are specific Powermat receivers for most iPod models and most popular modern phones.

WildCharge

Like the Powermat, the basic idea of WildCharge is that you place electronic devices on the WildCharger and it recharges without wires. WildCharger also has a “universal adapater” that will find a wide variety of phones, as well as several speciality charging bundles for more popular phones and devices. In addition, there is the WildCharge PowerDisc (sold separately), which sits on the charging pad, and has adapters to many popular handheld devices.

Duracell myGrid

Well-known power company Duracell has recently added its own product into the wireless power charging game. Like the previous two entries, the Duracell myGrid is a pad or mat, on which you place your electronic devices. MyCell comes with a universal clip which works with a large number of modern cell phones (but not all, you’ll need to check). Other devices such as the iPhone will need a myGrid case to make them work with the system. The myGrid can wirelessly charge four devices at once, which is more than the Powermat or Wildcharge. Unfortunately, the number of devices currently supported by myGrid is less than either Powermat or WildCharge.

Example: Nintendo DS Lite: What you’ll need: A different charger at this point. myGrid doesn’t have a DS receiver.

The Duracell myGrid is available at most electronics outlets. The starter pack comes with the charging pad and the universal clip that works with many phones. Speciality cases and covers for iPhone, iPod and other electronics are sold separately for around $30-$40.

Conclusion

Basically, your decision on which power charging pad you buy depends on the devices that you wish to charge. Check with each charging package for your particular devices, and go the cheapest route for the speciality receivers that you may need. Also consider how many devices you will want to charge. If it is more than three, you might want to consider the myGrid for the extra charging slot.

Anyone that watches the news can tell you that the introduction of the Apple iPhone changed the mobile phone industry. Along with its slick looks and hipster status value, the iPhone has brought forth numerous gadgets and applications made specifically for the iPhone.

One type of gadget that is becoming popular is the wireless charger. Here we will review some options for cordless charging of your iPhone, including some battery gadgets to carry extra power with you on the road.

Wireless Charging Pads

Powermat

What it is

Powermat is probably the most famous of the wireless power charging mats. The standard Powermat can charge up to three devices at once without wires. Each device must be outfitted with a device-specific “receiver”, or be plugged into a Powercube receiver (one Powercube comes with the Powermat). For maximum coolness, you’ll want to get a wireless power receiver for your devices though. For the iPhone, you have two choices. 1) You can charge your iPhone by using a small cable to the included PowerCube receiver. 2) You can buy an iPhone “receiver skin” which will allow you to place the iPhone directly on the Powermat to charge. Support

Powermat supports the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and the iPhone 2G. It also supports a wide variety of other electronic devices.

iPhone Battery Packs

RichardSolo 1800 for iPhone

What it is

The RichardSolo 1800 is a portable battery charger for the iPhone and iPod. The 1800 plugs into the port on the bottom of your iPhone and charges your phone battery. You must charge the 1800 in advance, of course, and this can be done with the included power adapter cable or from your laptop with the USB charging cable.

The 1800 comes in two versions: one with a cable between the 1800 and your iPhone, and one that plugs directly into the iPhone without cables (you’ll want the one without the cable!). Unlike other battery charger models (and even the previous RichardSolo models), the 1800 can charge your iPhone 100% on a full charge.

Support

The RichardSolo 1800 for iPhone and iPod supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 2G. It also supports all iPod models except the Shuffle.

Kensington Travel Battery Pack

What it is

The Kensington Travel Battery Pack is basically an extra battery that you can plug into your iPhone when the original battery runs out. The pack plugs into the bottom of your iPhone and can provide up to 5 extra hours of talk time for your phone. You have to charge the battery pack itself before you can use it this way. One cool feature of the Kensington model is the pop-out USB charge connector. The USB connector can plug into your laptop, and charge the battery pack. This means there are no wires (not even a power cord) that are required if you have a laptop. Perfect for on-the-road travel.

Support

The Kensington Travel Battery Pack supports the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 2G. In addition, it supports most iPods, including the iPod Touch, Nano, and iPod Classic models.

Review of the Powermat Charging System

The Powermat is a device that wirelessly charges up to three different electronic items such as phones, MP3 players, and portable video game systems. The Powermat is plugged into an electrical outlet, and the item to be charged is placed onto one of three charging areas on the Powermat. In order for a device to be charged, it must either have a Powermat receiver or be plugged into the Powercube, a cube with a mini USB cable and many different tips that allow it to work for various devices. The receiver is essentially a Powermat compatible battery cover that replaces the normal battery cover for a device.

Two different models of the Powermat are available for purchase. The standard model is Powermat Home and Office, which looks like a small skateboard. The second model is the Powermat Portable Mat. This version of the Powermat is the same in function, but folds up to make it easy for storage and travel. Both versions are the same price and come with the same accessories.

When a device begins charging, a short sound is made and a small light is emitted from the charging area. A magnet helps guide the device to the charging area. Both the volume of the sound and the brightness of the light can be changed, and even turned completely off. When a device is fully charged, the indicator light goes off automatically.

There are only a few models of phones that have receivers for the Powermat. The Blackberry Pearl, Curve, and Bold models are can be outfitted with a receiver, as can the Apple iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. These are currently the only phones that can be charged without the Powercube. Other devices that have receivers are the iPod Touch, the Nintendo DS Lite, and the Nintendo DSi. Docks are also available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Other phones can be supported through use of the PowerCube. The PowerCube is a device that sits on the Powermat and has various wires that fit most modern phones.

While the Powermat can be a very useful device, it is currently has a very small number of phones that can be outfitted with a receiver. While the Powercube’s multiple tips make many more phones and devices compatible, it isn’t true wireless charging. This is a great device for people who have compatible items, though, as it works very well at what it does. More devices will certainly be added in the future, so this would be a great buy for those who have one or more of the compatible devices.
